I can't believe it. After a little over six hours of flying, I'm sitting in London's Heathrow airport. My red-eye from BWI was nice; we actually arrived about a half hour ahead of schedule, and it was a pretty calm flight. I didn't have a seatmate, so sleeping was pretty easy. It is a little disorienting to leave the US at 9pm, fly for six hours, and arrive in London a little after 8:30am. Let the jet lag begin!
Dawn approaches somewhere over the United Kingdom...
A break in the cloud cover, however brief.
Flying above the clouds!
Sunrise :)
What a view!
The first glimpse of London
Descending...
Approach to London
I took this when we finally broke through the cloud cover. I definitely want to come back to London and explore someday.
You're almost there!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you're keeping a blog. It's a great way for your family and friends to support you while you're over there (without taking up your adventure time with phone calls and skype sessions all the time). I'll be thinking of you, Mary!
I remember Heathrow being a great place to waste time because there is SO MUCH food and SO MANY books!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you've arrived safely, Mary. I'm looking forward to other updates!
